Why Believing in Yourself Might Be the Healthiest Thing You Can Do
Well, here we are — the last week of September.
Anyone else feel like this month had a mind of its own? One minute it was August, the next — boom — we’re about to flip the calendar again.
And honestly? I’ve been a bit quiet, because life’s been moving… fast.
Not just metaphorically — I mean literally fast.
Because this month, I got behind the wheel of something I never thought I would: a medium rigid truck. And I passed my licence test with flying colours.
Let me back it up a little…
[cue reverse beepers and hazard lights] 😅
Starting Something New (When You’re Replacing Something That Wasn’t Working)

Most of you know I’ve been studying and building my holistic coaching business — it’s my passion and my mission rolled into one.
But with the economy doing what it does (chaos, anyone?), I decided to take on a new job to support myself while I keep studying and growing.
I was driving Uber for a while. I loved the chats with passengers and the flexibility… but I started to feel like I was hustling for very little reward.
So I pivoted. I took a chance.
And to be honest, I didn’t know how I’d feel about going back to a “real job” — being part of a team again, having structure, new expectations.
But life has a way of surprising you when you lean in.
Now? I’m in training for a new role with a lovely team, doing something I actually enjoy — and I didn’t expect to say that. It’s refreshing, and honestly, it’s just what I needed.
10 Days Ago, I’d Never Driven a Heavy Vehicle…

And now? I’m licensed and ready to go.
It’s wild to think about. I went from never touching a heavy vehicle in my life to confidently driving one — and passing my Medium Rigid licence test.
And I didn’t just scrape through.
(Okay fine… one little scrape on a roundabout — but it was to avoid a cyclist. Let’s call it defensive driving 🫣)
But I passed. And I did it well.
The reason?
I didn’t expect to fail.
I went in with the mindset of:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.”
— Henry Ford
I chose to think I could.
Even when it was scary.
Even when I had no idea what to expect.
Even when the butterflies were doing backflips in my stomach.
Confidence Isn’t Loud — It’s a Quiet Knowing
When we talk about health and wellness, we often jump straight to food, movement, or supplements. And sure — those things matter.
But let me tell you what else matters:
Challenging yourself
Showing up for something hard
Following through on a goal
Surprising yourself with your own capability
That kind of inner confidence? It is wellness.
Every time you prove to yourself that you can do hard things, your nervous system relaxes, your energy shifts, your posture changes… and your mindset? It expands.
You start to back yourself in a way that carries into everything else.
“I Don’t Think I Can” vs “I’m Willing to Try”

You don’t have to start with a truck licence. (Though, honestly, 10/10 recommend for a growth spurt.)
You can start with:
Going to a new fitness class
Swapping one scroll for a walk
Drinking a litre of water before your first coffee
Signing up for something you’ve been putting off
Choosing one small nourishing meal
Journalling for 5 minutes instead of spiralling
Every small act of “I’m willing to try” teaches your brain to stop defaulting to “I can’t.”
And when it comes to your health, your healing, and your happiness — belief is everything.
The Link Between Growth & Health

A lot of people think they need more discipline.
But what most of us actually need is permission.
Permission to:
Try
Fail
Reset
Start again
Learn
Grow
Believe
That is wellness.
It’s why I encourage my clients to:
✅ Track their progress
✅ Set goals that stretch them
✅ Celebrate wins (even small ones)
✅ Reflect without judgement
Because when you start trusting your ability to do hard things, you stop self-sabotaging… and start self-supporting.
And that’s where the real change happens.
A Moment of Gratitude (and a Shout-Out)

I can’t wrap this up without mentioning the incredible instructor who helped me through truck training.
He was calm, smart, patient, and exactly the kind of person you want next to you when you’re trying something totally out of your comfort zone. (And around a blind corner with a cyclist, for that matter 😅)
It reminded me: mentorship matters.
Whether it’s a driving instructor, a coach, a friend, a colleague — who you surround yourself with makes all the difference.
So, What Now?

Now I head into this next chapter —
📚 Still studying
💻 Still building
👩🏫 Still coaching
🚛 And now… driving trucks!
I’m walking into the final stretch of 2025 feeling proud, grounded, and honestly — excited for what’s next.
If you’re wondering whether it’s too late to pivot, start again, or go after something bold?
It’s not.
You’ve got time.
You’ve got options.
And most of all — you’ve got what it takes.
Final Thought
You are more capable than you think.
Whether you’re healing your skin, rebuilding your mindset, starting a new job, or just trying to make it through the week — give yourself credit.
Give yourself grace.
And give yourself permission to do things you never imagined you could.
Here’s to finishing September strong… and rolling into October like a boss 💛
