Let’s be honest: winter isn’t just about pulling out the big doona and pretending soup is a personality. It’s a whole vibe shift — and not always the gentle, cup-of-tea-by-the-fire kind.
Winter’s not just cold — it can be chaotic for your energy, emotions, skin, and immune system. So this week, we’re not waiting for burnout to hit. We’re setting up rituals that support, soothe and strengthen as we head into the colder months.
And where do we start? With our skin.
Because while you’re worrying about layering up on the outside, your body might be crying out for some support on the inside. If you’re someone who leans towards dryness (hello fellow flaky-faced friends), you probably notice your skin changing before the temperature even does.
So here are a few easy, nourishing ways to help your skin stay supple, smooth, and less like a lizard’s elbow this winter:

Hydration: Drink More Than Just Hot Coffee
Tempting as it is to rotate between flat whites and herbal teas, don’t forget your good old H2O. Cooler weather tricks us into drinking less — but your skin still needs hydration. Keep a water bottle handy, and try warm lemon water in the morning if plain water feels like a chore. Try our Water Filter for clean purified water

Load Up on Healthy Fats
Omega-3s are your skin’s secret weapon. They help reinforce your skin barrier from the inside out. Think oily fish like salmon, flaxseeds, chia, walnuts, or a high-quality omega supplement. Skin looking tight and dull? This is your first stop.

Moisturise… and Then Moisturise Again
If your go-to moisturiser from summer suddenly feels like it’s doing nothing, it’s probably not just your imagination. Cold weather, indoor heaters, and wind all strip your skin’s natural oils.
This is the time to step up. Choose richer creams, add in a sleep mask (like this one) or apply a natural barrier like tallow over your nourishing cream to lock it all in overnight.
Fun fact: Up to 70% of your skin’s moisture can be lost while you sleep — especially if your room is dry or you’re buried under six layers of bedding like a croissant.

Watch the Water Temperature
We get it — hot showers feel like therapy in winter. But your skin? Not loving it. Hot water can strip the skin’s natural oils and leave you itchy and irritated. Go for warm (not scalding) showers and finish with a quick pat-dry before applying your creams or oils while skin is still slightly damp. That’s how you seal the deal.

Eat for Skin Health
Winter cravings can lean a little beige (hello toast and pasta), but your skin thrives on colour. Leafy greens, berries, pumpkin, carrots, and other antioxidant-rich foods will help reduce inflammation and keep your skin glowing. Add a bit of turmeric and ginger into your meals too — they’re natural anti-inflammatories and immunity boosters.
Bonus Ritual: Make It a Moment
Don’t rush your skincare. Create a little nighttime ritual — dim the lights, put on calming music, do your skincare, and then finish with a sleep mask or tallow balm. Even five minutes can feel like a mini spa moment in the middle of your week. It’s not just skin-deep — it’s nervous-system-soothing too.

Your Skin is Talking — Are You Listening?
Dryness, dullness, breakouts — they’re all little signals that your body’s asking for more care. Winter gives us the excuse to slow down. Your skin gives you the reason.
This week, start building your Winter Wellness Ritual. Begin with your skin. And if you’re not sure where to start, I can help you create one that fits your lifestyle (and budget).
