My 5-Day Flush: A Journey of Detox and Discovery

After a recent weekend away visiting family and attending a business conference, I came home with an uninvited souvenir—a cold I picked up along the way. Traveling was exhausting, especially with my low immune system due to TSW (Topical Steroid Withdrawal), and by the time I returned, I was feeling pretty run-down. So, naturally, I decided it was the perfect time for a five-day colonic hydrotherapy flush!
Day 1: Getting Started (And Not Quite Prepared)
Back home and barely unpacked, I boiled some water and steeped my parasite tea as instructed for the night before the cleanse. I was supposed to be home by 7 pm, but after flight delays, it was closer to 8. No problem; I could still make it work.
Day 1 of my flush was fairly uneventful—likely because my body was still recovering from travel dehydration and the lingering cold. My usual hydro therapist Emma greeted me warmly, and we got started, though my body didn’t seem quite ready to let go. But hey, it was only Day 1. We chatted, caught up, and I figured tomorrow would bring more “movement” to this adventure.
Day 2: A Slow Start but Some Progress
Today I woke up with a headache and that classic tired, drained feeling. It might have been the flush—or maybe the fact that I’d decided to try going carnivore to help reduce inflammation. By mid-afternoon, I’d managed to get 2 litres of water down, so I went in for my colonic feeling a bit more prepared than yesterday. Emma and I did see a bit more action this time, but nothing too dramatic, just hints of things loosening up. I went to bed early, hoping for a restful night.
Day 3: The Corn Sighting (And the Plot Thickens)
Today was my first session with a new therapist, Margo, as Emma had a scheduling conflict. I was a bit disappointed, given how Emma and I had bonded through this journey, but Margo was a delight. She had a calm, nurturing vibe, and we quickly got comfortable.
And then… it happened. Midway through the session, there was a massive corn sighting. This wasn’t just a casual niblet; it was unmistakable. Margo and I shared a good laugh about it, though I couldn’t help but feel a little wistful that Emma wasn’t there to witness this historic release. If you read my last blog, you’ll know this corn had been with me for weeks, a mystery I’d been waiting to solve. Margo joked about tracking transit times with beets or berries next, and I left feeling surprisingly accomplished.

Day 4: Settling In with Margo’s Gentle Guidance
Feeling a bit more at ease with Margo’s style, Day 4 was like catching up with an old friend. She had so much knowledge to share about naturopathy and Ayurvedic medicine, and I learned a lot about how the body stores and releases tension.
Today was lighter and less dramatic, though I was dealing with some PMS symptoms (hello, period). My skin was already looking better, though—a little more hydrated, and my face didn’t feel as tight. The flush was clearly doing something, even if I didn’t notice much on the surface.
Day 5: A Familiar Face and a Curious Finding
Back with Emma for the final session! We were still chuckling about the corn sighting from earlier in the week. Today’s session was steady—hydration levels were up, things were moving nicely, and I felt like I was wrapping up this journey on a high note. There was even a suspiciously chunky moment that Emma and I guessed might have been a worm. It’s amazing (and a bit gross) what our bodies hold onto! This session felt productive but also like a gentle goodbye.

10 Days Later: Reflecting on the Flush
Ten days post-flush, I’ve been feeling lighter and, surprisingly, my skin has shown some real improvement. There’s been less flakiness, even on humid days, and I don’t feel the need to moisturize my face as often. I’m getting more consistent with my water intake, and though I’ve had a few days off from the strict carnivore diet, I’m not stressing about it—just letting things flow (no pun intended).
Bowel movements have been pretty regular, though occasionally I’ve noticed a cramp here or there. Emma reassured me that this is normal and that my body is still recalibrating. I’m going to keep up with my fibre and vitamins, and Margo’s idea of testing with beets or berries for transit times has me curious.
So, that’s the story of my five-day colonic adventure! It was a journey of both the unexpected and the unforgettable, and I’ll definitely be back for more. For now, though, I’m resting, staying hydrated, and enjoying this new lighter feeling. Until next time, keep your spirits high and your water bottles full! 😊
